22 March 2013. Newcomer and offshore service specialist SeaZip Offshore Service selects MirTac and StarIPS to support fleet management for its sophisticated new build offshore service vessels. The contract includes StarIPS software and related implementation services such as database set-up, procedures implementation and related training and consultancy. The software will include maintenance, purchasing, vessel administration, QHSE management and document control.
 Jan Reier Arends, managing co-owner SeaZip Offshore Service says: ‘MirTac has proved to be a knowledgeable partner at our ship manager, JR Shipping. Without question, with the swift implementation of StarIPS, we will manage our maintenance operations efficiently whilst complying with highest customer requirements and all relevant safety, health and environmental regulations such as ISPS/ISM. The continuity in operations & maintenance of our customers, offshore wind farms, will only benefit from the enhanced availability and service provided by our vessels.’
 In the near future the newly-constructed ‘Twin Axe’ catamaran ships will be deployed in the completion stage of a large-scale wind farm on the North Sea, 90 km north-west of the island of Borkum. They distinguish themselves due to their speed and maximum seaworthiness which, combined with economical fuel consumption and a high degree of stability, enables them to sail in rough weather conditions too. While primarily built for the purpose of transporting personnel, the ships can also transport small quantities of freight. SeaZip Offshore Service is anticipating the trend of devising wind farms at locations far from the coast and at ever-greater depths.
