11 May, 2016. Universal Marine and MirTac successfully implemented Star Fleet Management software onboard the new bulkers mv Pride and mv Star II. Recently, a joint venture of Universal Shipping & Trading (part of the Universal Marine group) and NedNor, brought the bulkers mv Pride and mv StarII into service in bareboat charter. The relatively small bulkers will carry dry and break bulk along the coasts of the Atlantic.
Universal Marine will use the Star software, bulkers and office linked seamlessly, to optimize maintenance, purchase, safety and crew planning. Together with the enthusiastic staff, MirTac has translated the daily practice into efficient practical solutions. MirTac built the database including set-up of (critical) equipment, spare parts, procedures, job instructions and safety documents. The mv Pride and mv Star II are now fully compliant with ISM, ISPS, MLC and other customer requirements. Barend Tooten, Managing Director MirTac, says: ‘We are happy to see that Universal Marine is expanding. We are looking forward to supporting them in their renewed growth.’
